Optically Coupled Three-Dimensional Common Memory with Novel Data Transfer Method

Abstract
An optically coupled three-dimensional common memory has been proposed to perform real-time parallel data processing at the hardware level. In this memory, high-speed block data transfer is carried out by optical coupling among memory layers with LEDs and photoconductors. In order to increase the packing density of this memory, the scalability of the LED and photoconductor is evaluated. In addition, it is shown that a high packing density and a large memory capacity comparable to the conventional SRAM can be achieved by a newly proposed sense-amplifier-coupling data transfer method.
