Abstract
‐ The neuro‐endocrine system is affected by chronic ethanol ingestion. Chlormethiazole is effective in the treatment of the ethanol withdrawal syndrome because of its tolerability, lack of hepatotoxicity, short plasma half‐life, lack of any long‐acting intermediate metabolites and lack of adverse effects on the neuro‐endocrine system in alcoholics.Keywords
