Abstract
Under the guidance of Dr. Chilton R. Bush, director of the Institute for Journalistic Studies at Stanford University, this study takes a fresh approach to the problem of determining why people read certain items and ignore others. It suggests that anxiety is a “pervasive determinant of news-reading behavior.”Keywords
