Abstract
Five species of the small ground crickets, Nemobiinae, from northern North America have been studied. The species are placed in three genera: Neonemobius, Allonemobius, and Eunemobius, with chromosome numbers of 2n♀ = 19, 15, and 7, respectively. The X chromosome consists of different proportions of heterochromatin and euchromatin, and shows variation in structure between different genera. Evolutionary relationships of the Nemobiinae are suggested.
