Abstract
In 1990, when Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) Defense Systems and Electronics Group (DSEG) managers assessed themselves using the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award criteria, they found that they needed a concerted approach to benchmarking. This article outlines the pursuit of excellence in benchmarking that resulted in TI/DSEG's receipt of the prestigious 1994 Award for Excellence Silver Award from the International Benchmarking Clearinghouse.
