Abstract
To the Editor: The reports of adenocarcinoma of the vagina in young women whose mothers received stilbestrol during pregnancy (N Engl J Med 284:878 and 285:390, 1971) and the editorials on this subject were of interest to me because of the results that we obtained by injecting diethylstilbestrol or norethynodrel with mestranol (Enovid) into newborn mice. Squamous-cell carcinomas of the cervix and vagina and granular-cell myoblastoma at the cervix were found in female mice that survived to old age. Many of the male mice had cysts of the epididymis.
