Abstract
A metabolism measurement, reproducible to within 5%, can be obtained on normal and thyrotoxic patients and out-patients if the subject attends for the test on at least 2 successive mornings under basal conditions, or on as many successive mornings as may be required for the basal reading to become constant within 5%. The lower, or lowest, reading is taken as the subject''s basal metabolic rate. Resting on a couch for 20-30 mins. after moderate exercise is adequate for basal purposes. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
