Abstract
The prepn. and properties of methyl fluoroacetate, a convulsant poison with a delayed action, are reported. Unlike the other methyl halogenoacetates, it does not possess lachrymatory properties. Other F compounds are described which are in general toxic if they contain the F-CH2-CO-group, but non-toxic if they contain the -COF group. Triethyllead fluoroacetate combines the sternutatory properties associated with triethyllead salts with the convulsant action of the fluoro-acetates.
