Locus of Control as a Predictor of Hypnotic Susceptibility

Abstract
The present study related locus of control to hypnotic susceptibility, using the Rotter I-E and Barber Suggestibility Scale as the measures with a college-age sample of both males and females. External females were significantly more suggestible, but male externality was not related to BSS scores. The results are discussed in relation to the concept of defensive externality and the relevance of moderator variables in the prediction of hypnotizability.
