Abstract
The effect of the ΛΣ conversion on the binding energy of a Λ particle in infinite nuclear matter is estimated by using phenomenological hyperon–nucleon potentials. All the potentials are assumed to be central and are set up to fit the low–energy ΛN and ΣN scattering including the Λp resonance below the ΣN threshold. In these potentials more realistic ranges than those in recent papers are used.
