Abstract
A disposable, heat-sealed packet has been developed for use in feeding and oviposition of the Debolt Lygus diet for laboratory rearing of Lygus hesperus Knight. An individual packet is formed by heat sealing the edges of a piece of Parafilm (10 by 10 cm) with a piece of polyethelene plastic (10 by 14 cm) film on three sides. The packet is partially filled with diet, and the remaining edge is then heat sealed to form a disposable packet of diet. The packets can be used for feeding nymphs and adults and also can be used for adult oviposition.
