Abstract
The polymorphonuclear (PMN) cell factor was detected in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. The factor was found to stimulate human synovial cells to produce collagenase. The activity was detected in PMN cells accumulated in the epiphyseal bone marrow adjacent to the affected joints in patients with active and severely erosive rheumatoid arthritis, but not in lesions in non-rheumatoid adults. The activity was also found in PMN cells from the synovial fluid of rheumatoid-arthritic joints, but not in PMN cells from the peripheral blood of rheumatoid arthritis patients. This publication has 11 references indexed in Scilit:
