Abstract
A method for determining Fe in biologic materials with a high P:Fe ratio is described. It is applicable over the range 0.5-10 [mu]g. Fe/ml. The sample is dry ashed, the Fe precipitated as sulphide with ammonium sulphide, and the precipitate dissolved in acid in the presence of [alpha],[alpha]''-dipyridyl. The red color is measured in an absorptiometer. All reactions are carried out in the crucible in which the sample has been ashed. The method has proved satisfactory with protein hydrolysates and cows'' milk. Keywords
