Abstract
The cross section for elastic scattering of electrons by neutral argon atoms has been calculated from 0-300 eV. The optical potential, or self-energy of the single-particle Green's function, is used to include effects of electron correlations, which are found to be significant at low energy. The cross section is calculated by means of a partial-wave expansion. Our results are compared with previous calculations and with experiments. Good agreement is obtained with experiment over a wide energy range. This publication has 28 references indexed in Scilit:
