Abstract
The author describes a course designed to introduce students to the modern personal computer and shows how it can be used as a high-level engineering computational tool. One of the goals of the course was the development of a wide range of programs directly applicable to both education and research topics in circuit and system theory. The author describes the implementation of the class and some of the results obtained. Particular attention is given to student projects on the design of a network function manipulator, symbolic analysis, and approximation and synthesis
