Abstract
A phcnomenological theory, based on the Landau-Ginsburg-Devonshirc formalism is developed to explain phase transitions in perovskite ferroelectrics with oxygen octahedron tilts. In this approach, the Gibbs free energy function is expanded as a power series involving polarization and tilt angle as order parameters. After giving the general solutions, we apply the theory to the PbZr().9Ti0.1O3 system. Keywords
