Abstract

The Problem discussed here is to minimize functions of positive definite matrices of the form where z₁ …w_m are given column vectors in C⁽ⁿ⁾ The infinimum of f(R) is found, and necessary and sufficient conditions for f(R) to have a minimum are established. The case in which R is restricted to real positive definite matrices is discussed.
