Abstract
THERE have been few reports on late reactions to hydralazine (Apresoline) therapy. Attention was recently called to a syndrome resembling acute systemic lupus erythematosus associated with prolonged treatment of hypertension with large doses of hydralazine.1 Two reports2 , 3 have appeared describing a syndrome resembling early rheumatoid arthritis or disseminated lupus erythematosus occurring in 13 of 139 and 14 of 253 patients whose treatment included hydralazine. It is of particular interest that all the patients with this syndrome had received relatively large doses of the drug for at least three months.
