Abstract
The system developed for measuring the frequencies for resonances in wind instruments has proven to be useful also in giving indications that correlate well with musicians' evaluations regarding the response, or “feel,” of the instrument. Acoustical-response measurements give detailed information regarding the elements that combine to give the total response felt by the musician, since he “feels” more than one resonance peak simultaneously over much of the playing range. Examples showing the correlation between measured data and typical musician reaction on different instruments are shown and demonstrated.
