Abstract
There is an old Chinese proverb which says: Virtual reality (VR) is rapidly growing in importance for business use. No longer relegated to the research lab, VR has the unique ability to give users the sensation and ‘experience’ of having gone through the computer screen to enter a computer-generated world. By using VR to improve understanding of complex 3-D data, companies are reporting significant benefits in cost savings, faster time-to-market and higher quality. VR is now poised to enter the business mainstream. IT professionals have an important role as the future implementors and integrators of VR systems. In this article, we shall be looking at the important trends and issues which are affecting companies, from an IT perspective, in trying to make the most of VRKeywords
