Abstract
The one‐dimensional X ‐ Y model in various kinds of inhomogeneous magnetic fields is analyzed. In each case we find the spectrum and eigenfunctions of the system, and study the equilibrium and relaxation behavior of the magnetization at any spin site.Keywords
