Abstract
Anterior pituitary growth hormone given to nephrectomized rats reduced the rate of formation of urea during the first hr. after the intraven. admn. of casein hydrolysate by approx. 1/2. No effect of the growth hormone on the basal rate of urea for-mation was seen during the same time interval after the admn. of the hormone in animals not given exogenous amino acids. The rate of removal of excess amino acids from the plasma of rats given casein hydrolysate was somewhat increased by the growth hormone. Neither the admn. of insulin, epinephrine, nor previous adrenal demedullation affected the rate of urea formation in the basal state or after the admn. of casein hy-drolysate.Keywords
