Abstract
Quasielastic light scattering (QLS) in propylene glycol is measured in a temperature interval 95–320 K in order to study the fast relaxation processes. A model of the fast relaxation is proposed that predicts the growth of the QLS as a function of the free volume. By fitting the experimental data on QLS within the framework of the model, the Vogel-Fulcher-Tammann temperature was found. The latter is in good agreement with the value of determined from the temperature dependence of the α-relaxation time. © 1996 The American Physical Society.
