The California Public Opinion Scale in an Authoritarian Culture

Abstract
In the study reported here the authors attempted to discover whether residence in an authoritarian culture leads to greater acceptance of the “authoritarian” items of the California scale and to test the validity of that scale. The results tend to confirm claims for the validity of the F scale but do not show a positive correlation between authoritarianism and politico-economic conservation.
