Abstract
By condensation of polyvinylamine with several aromatic aldehydes, poly‐Schiff bases were obtained, which were practically 100% pure. The polysalicylidenevinylamine and its 5‐chloro‐, 5‐nitro, 4‐hydroxy, and 3‐methoxy derivatives, as well as the poly‐2‐hydroxynaphthylidenevinylamine and the polyfurfurylidenevinylamine were isolated. Their structure was checked by elementary analyses as well as by qualitative and quantitative infrared spectrophotometry. These compounds from interesting polychelates with transition metals.
