Abstract
The harmonic-oscillator model of hadrons is generalized to include higher harmonics so that the degrees of freedom of the internal state of a hadron are equivalent to those of a violin string or organ pipe. Scattering amplitudes for the scattering of particles by the oscillator are constructed and shown to be equivalent to the dual-symmetric Veneziano model. Our method provides a direct construction of the amplitude in a manifestly factorized form. Keywords
