Abstract
Students of human development in ethnic‐minority cultures must ascertain the culture's repertoire of competencies and the indigenous formulas by which those culturally diverse competencies are socialized. Cultural attitudes toward schooling differ if the observed cultural diversity is based on primary or secondary cultural differences.Keywords
