The Disturbing Child: A Matter of Opinion

Abstract
The ratings of regular teachers and special education teachers were compared to determine if the former were more bothered by certain behaviors often exhibited by children. The results indicated that regular teachers rated the behaviors as significantly more disturbing than did the comparison group. “Socially defiant” behaviors were viewed as more disturbing by the entire sample. The implications of these findings, as well as future research areas, are discussed.Keywords
