Abstract
The effect of adrenaline on the urinary excretion of total nitrogen, creatinine and purine metabolites was studied in normal male rats. It was found that adrenaline produces a significant increase in purine metabolites in urine and a marked increase in total nitrogen excretion. This action of adrenaline is not duplicated by cortisone and not inhibited by adrenergic blocking ergot alkaloids; noradrenaline has a less pronounced effect on nitrogen excretion. Keywords
