Travel Medicine 1991: New Frontiers

Abstract
Travel medicine has existed for years as a "cottage industry" composed of a heterogeneous group of persons scattered around the globe who gave travelers health recommendations based on fact and fancy. In recent years, research has provided a scientific basis for disease prevention and treatment guidelines for travelers. The growing interest in travel medicine was evident at the second Conference on International Travel Medicine, held from 9 to 12 May 1991 in Atlanta, Georgia, and attended by 825 persons from 45 countries.
