Abstract
Frequency domain and time domain techniques have been used for the comparison of mathematical models of the transient behavior of a multistage extractor with experimenal data. In particular the sensitivity of the model to the number qf stages has been assessed. Several methods of model discrimination are compared. It was found that an ideal mixing, non equilibrium stage model is both practical and realistic. The transient behavior of individual exit streams can be predicted well, although the model will not exactly predict both streams simultaneously. Keywords
