Abstract
The activity of carbenicillin and three ureido penicillins against 191 strains of enterobacteria or pseudomonas were compared with respect to inhibitory activity, bactericidal activity and stability to β-lactamases. Furbenicillin and other ureido penicillins showed higher inhibitory and bactericidal activity than carbenicillin against Pseudomonas strains but lower activity against Providencia. Hydrolysis by β-lactamases was a feature of all the compounds studied. Keywords
