A MODIFICATION OF THE KOELLE TECHNIQUE FOR USE WITH OXIMES

Abstract
The Koelle histochemical method has been modified to study the effect of oximes on cholinesterase activity at motor endplates. It is possible by lowering the pH to hold the reaction between substrate and oxime to a minimum. With this modified procedure, the inhibitory effect of pyridine-2-aldoxime methiodide and diacetylmonoxime on motor endplate cholinesterase can be demonstrated.
