Cervical Myelopathy

Abstract
Although chronic degenerative changes are universal in the cervical spine of elderly persons (cervical spondylosis), cord compression (cervical myelopathy) is relatively uncommon. It is possible that one of the factors encouraging the appearance of myelopathy is the addition of spondylosis to a previously symptomless congenital anomaly of the cervical spine. A case in which the latter was a maldevelopment of the laminae of C.2, and cord compression due to both anterior and posterior lesions had occurred is reported as evidence supporting this suggestion.
