Abstract
The upper Llandoverian Awantjish Formation, which occurs in Val Brillant no. 1 bore-hole (close to Lake Matapedia) Quebec, yielded well preserved acritarchs, chitinozoans, and spores. A new acritarch species, Aremoricanium? matapediensis, is described. The acritarch assemblages, which are characterized by the presence of Domasia and the absence of forms such as Neoveryhachium carminae and Deunffia, show a general resemblance to those described from the Ross Brook Formation of Nova Scotia [Canada] and the Rose Hill and Tuscarora Formations of Pennsylvania [USA]. Furthermore, they are generally similar to those from the Silurian of Belgium.
