Paper Chromatographic Estimation of Phenylalanine and Tyrosine Using Finger-tip Blood

Abstract
A paper chromatographic method for the determination of serum phenylalanine and tyrosine has been developed that requires only 0.12 ml. of serum, no deproteinization, and no expensive equipment. This method has been applied to the detection of phenylketonuria and to check serum levels of phenylketonurics on low-phenylalanine diets.
