Abstract
Experience is described of the use of iontophoresis of 2% lignocaine to achieve effective tympanic membrane anesthesia. The main uses are for outpatient myringotomy and transtympanic electrocochleography. Complete anesthesia of the drum was obtained in all cases, and those patients who previously had these procedures carried out without anesthetic, or with surface anesthesia only, all stated a marked preference for iontophoresis. No complications have occurred. This publication has 9 references indexed in Scilit:
