Abstract
The potent fibrinolytic agent in urine is found to be a plasminogen activator. It has no proteolytic effect on plasmino-gen-free substrates. The activator is rather stable at neutral and alkaline reaction but is rapidly destroyed at acid reaction. A dry prepn. is made by means of precipitation with cold ethanol followed by lyophilization. It is suggested that the activator makes possible a rapid resolution of clotted blood in the urinary system. Keywords
