Abstract
A small delesseriaceous red alga from deep South Carolina and Florida [USA] offshore sites, previously assigned to Membranoptera subtropica Schn., is placed in SEARLESIA gen. nov. on the basis of vegetative and reproductive features, especially tetrasporangial sorus position. Searlesia with S. subtropica comb. nov. [M. subtropica Schneider] as the type and only known species is created and allied with the Phycodrys group of the Nitophylleae. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
