Abstract
Several non-indigenous growth-regulating-substances increased the effectiveness of streptomycin and Terramycin in the control of fireblight on apples. Most of them demonstrated activity similar to that of indole-3-acetic acid or its ester, some of which were of less practicability because of the high concns. required or their toxicity to the apple. Naphthyl acetamide appeared to be one of the most promising of these substances. In vitro tests indicated that the effects of the growth regulator were on the host-plant reaction rather than upon the pathogen. Keywords
