Adsorption interaction of water with microporous adsorbents. Part 1.—Water-vapour adsorption on activated carbon cloth

Abstract
The respective roles played by surface oxides and pore and construction dimensions in the absorption of water vapour by a microporous carbon cloth are examined. The existence of a maximum in the interaction energy of water with the adsorbent as pore and constriction dimensions are changed by activation is demonstrated. Pore filling of very small pores by water is facilitated by the presence of surface oxides.
