Abstract
A 29-year-old woman with a diabetic peripheral neuropathy sustained bilateral spontaneous avulsion fractures of the calcaneus. Although overlooked on the initial radiographs, both fractures healed with a brief period of casting. This lesion should be distinguished from osteomyelitis involving the calcaneus. Keywords
