Theory of the X-Ray Diffuse Scattering in LiFe 5 O 8

Abstract
A theory of the correlation function developed previously for the cation distribution in magnetite based on Anderson's idea is applied to the case of LiFe5O8 in the disordered state. The x-ray diffuse scattering intensity due to the short range order effect of the Li+ and Fe3+ ion distribution is calculated and the iso-diffusion curves around reciprocal lattice points are shown. The calculated intensity in powder samples is compared with the observes one by Brunel and de Bergevin and agreement is satisfactory.
