Abstract
Colpidium requires whole protein molecules of large size. Casein is satisfactory but albumin is not. Free amino acids are inhibitory. Glaucoma will grow on peptones or enzymatic digests of casein. Free amino acids are utilized. The failure of these 2 ciliates to grow when amino acids form the sole N source is attributed to the necessity of molecules of a certain size to stimulate the swallowing response. Keywords
