Abstract
We present results of a survey for β Cephei stars in the galactic cluster NGC 6231. Thirty-five stars were monitored for short-period variability through the Johnson B filter. One known β Cep star was confirmed and three more discovered. All have unusually short periods. The implications for the evolutionary status of these stars and for their mechanism of oscillation are discussed.
