Abstract
We present results of a survey for β Cephei stars in the galactic cluster NGC 6231. Thirty-five stars were monitored for short-period variability through the Johnson B filter. One known β Cep star was confirmed and three more discovered. All have unusually short periods. The implications for the evolutionary status of these stars and for their mechanism of oscillation are discussed. Keywords
