DIURNAL RHYTHM IN THE ADRENAL CORTICAL SECRETION AND IN THE RATE OF METABOLISM OF CORTICOSTERONE IN THE RAT

Abstract
An absence of diurnal rhythm, and a reduction of adrenal secretion, plasma levels and rate of disappearance of corticosterone (11β,21-dihydroxy-pregn-4-ene-3,20-dione) are observed in the rat after electrolytic lesions of the eminentia mediana. The possibility of a direct control of the hormonal metabolism by the hypothalamus is discussed.
