Abstract
The correction of thermally lowered track densities has been approached from a new angle. The methods suggested either need the measurements of diameters of only circular etch-pits or depend on the track densities alone, thus eliminating the tedious diametric measurements altogether. Experiments show that volume tracks lying wholly inside the sample during the annealing process are less stable than surface tracks with one of their ends intercepting the outer reference surface. Also, it is shown that the annealing property of genuine fission tracks can be advantageously utilized in the study of optically duty samples. Keywords
