Abstract
The growth of Ti:sapphire single crystal fibres in various atmospheres and different source rods is investigated by using the laser heated pedestal growth method. A tunable fibre laser with a 56.5 nm tuning range has been demonstrated in a 350 µm diameter 11.2 mm long Ti3+:Al2O3 fibre.Keywords
