Abstract
Seven chemical and 3 biological insecticides were evaluated for control of Thymelicus lineola (Ochsenheimer) on timothy, Phleum pratense L. Fast acting effective control was obtained with single sprays of methomyl, carbaryl, carbofuran, trichlorfon, NRDC-143 [3-phenoxybenzyl (±)-cis-trans-2,2-dimethyl-3-(2.2-dichlorovinyl) cyclopropane carboxylate], WL 43467 [alpha-Cyano-3-phenoxybenzyl 2-(2,2-dichlorovinyl)-3,3-dimethylcyclopropane-I-carboxylate’, and EL 43775 ‘Benzene acetic acid, 4-chloro-alpha-(1-methylethyl)-, cyano (3-phenoxyphenyl) methyl ester]. Initially slower, but effective control also was obtained with the biological compounds DispelTM, Thurbicide®, and a nucleopolyhedrosis virus. Dry weight yield of timothy was significantly higher in all treated plots than in the untreated plots. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
