Abstract
A quantum mechanical study is made of rotational transitions within the vibrational manifold of a diatomic molecule which is in an intense laser field whose frequency is comparable to the vibrational frequency. An analytic iteration scheme for the time dependent propagator in the sudden approximation is implemented through the third order. The approximations are discussed and an improved scheme is suggested. The third order SRA results for HF rotational transitions are in excellent agreement with exact numerical results. Keywords
